The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

This is it folks, the home opener and the start of the 2011-2012 New York Islanders hockey season, and it all begins tomorrow night, in approximately 31 hours.

Rick DiPietro will, in all likelihood, start in goal for the Isles. He impressed during training camp, but needs to be sharp or the Florida Panthers will take this game.

As I mentioned when he got here, Jay Pandolfo was in training camp to earn a spot on this team, and he did so. He'll be in the lineup tomorrow night as well.

Ryan Strome may or may not be, no official word from the team just yet.

Florida definitely improved this summer, but they are beatable. The Isles need to keep up their success on the PP that they showed during the preseason and just play smart hockey for sixty minutes. There's enough talent here, it's all about execution.

I'm very excited to see how the young kids perform this season, the Isles are going to be a fun team to watch.

See you at the Coliseum tomorrow night, I'll post an in-depth game recap after the game.
